YOUTH RED CROSS PROGRAM
Youth Red Cross programs is one of the most integral part of the strategic approach taken by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) which was established in 1920 under the Indian Red Cross Society Act and incorporated under the Parliament Act XV of 1920 (as Amended by Act No. 22 of 1956 and the Adaptation of Laws (No. 4) order of 1957 and the Act. No. 14 of 1992). It is a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and is recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The Youth Red Cross society in our college was established in 2011 with the objective of spreading awareness among youth toward health and life Community service Promotion of national and international friendship and carrying out of humanitarian services, including disaster relief, health and social welfare programs.
Under the guidance of the officer in charge the students are trained and encouraged to manage the health issues of mass and organize activities to instill in them confidence and leadership qualities
Students in colleges and those aged 18 to 30 years of age may join the Youth Red Cross as volunteers.
MISSION
The Indian Red Cross Society aims to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times, all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized, alleviated and even prevented, thus contribute to creating a more congenial climate for peace.

ACTIVITIES ORGANISED UNDER YOUTH RED CROSS PROGRAM IN 2018-19
· CELEBRATION OF "WORLD RED CROSS DAY " ON 8 MAY 2018:
World Red Cross day was celebrated in Govt. Mata Karma Girls’ College, Mahsamund with 110 students and faculty members of college. This program was organized to spread message of Humanity and voluntarily movement in times of war, natural calamity and Disasters to protect human life and health and ensure respect for all human beings and to prevent and alleviate human suffering.
· AWARNESS CAMPAIGN FOR MENTAL HEALTH was organized under National Mental Health program and Tobacco control Program under directions of District Hospital, Mahsamund. In this Program social activist and Psychiatrist Dr. Ram Gopal Khute have counseled student about importance of mental well-being and small problems are taking form of depression and serious mental illness due to lack of communication. Also social taboos like alcohol and tobacco and drugs are destroying thousands of families every year.

· CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL DEWORMING DAY ON 10 SEPTEMBER 2018 (First round): National Deworming Day is an initiative of Ministry of Health and Family welfare Government of India to make every child in the country worm free to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality life. Under this program Shri Surendra Chandrakar, Block Program Manager, Mahsamund district, Shri C.R.Chandrakar Block program training officer and Shri Deepak Tiwari RHO, Machewa have delivered lecture and a short video on how the worms are transmitted from soil to other people and affect the health and overall development of children and reduced school participation. Distribution of Albendazole tablet to 62 students below 19 years of age.
· AWARNESS CAMPAIGN FOR EYE DONATION: The National Eye donation fortnight (25 august-8 september) was also held on 10 September 2018. Eye Assistant officer from district Hospital Mahasamund , Shri Awadesh Yadav, Shri GR Patel and Shri Sanjay Chandrakar have delivered lectures and documentary to promote eye donation . Also they have answered the query of student related to eye diseases and their treatment.
· CELEBRATION OF WORLD DIABETES DAY AT COLLEGE LEVEL On 14 November 2018: Student counselling was done to urge youngsters to learn more about diabetes particularly type 2 which is preventable if people know the warning signs and risk factors so they can adopt healthier life style. In this event total 77 students have participated in an interesting questionnaire of their daily routine and life style activities. On the basis of score students are told that if people continue in unhealthy and sadistic life style for a longer period eventually after 35 they will definitely show symptoms of diabetes.

· CELEBRATION OF WORLD AIDS DAY ON 1 DEC 2018: Intra college Rangoli competition was organised to spread awareness and message to prevent AIDS and to support people living with AIDS. This was followed by lectures of Dr. N. K. Mannadape, District Hospital Mahasamund. And Shri Ashok Giri District coordinator Junior Red cross unit Mahasaumund. And formation of RED RIBBON CLUB at college.
· Distribution of Albendazole tablets to 80 students below 19 years of age on NATIONAL DEWORMING DAY second round for 2018.

· ORGANISED WITH SUPPORT OF DISTRICT HOSPITAL FREE SICKLE CELL ANEMIA CHECKUP CAMP, FREE EYE CHECKUP AND LECTURE ON TB PREVENTION WITH NSS AT MACHEWA VILLAGE UNDER UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN.
